Driver arrested following hit-and-run crash in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A motorist is facing multiple charges -- including driving under the influence -- after a Saturday morning hit-and-run crash led to injuries and property damage in Murfreesboro.

The Murfreesboro Police Department said the two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, causing East Clark Boulevard to be shut down from Lascassas Pike to Leaf Avenue for several hours.

According to authorities, a fire hydrant was damaged and three utility poles were knocked down. As a result, Middle Tennessee Electric crews were called to the scene for repairs.

At 11:52 a.m., police updated their Facebook post, saying traffic was back to normal along East Clark Boulevard following the crash, which only caused minor injuries.

Officials said one driver took off running after the incident, but law enforcement arrested and charged that individual with DUI, leaving the scene, failure to provide immediate notice, and possession of a handgun under the influence.

No additional details have been released about Saturday morning's crash, including the identity of the driver who was taken into custody.
