Top 5 Things to do this weekend: Holiday shopping deals and Small Business Saturday

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday and the Tri-Cities offers a wide array to finish up holiday shopping and support local businesses.

Downtown Bristol hosts Small Business Saturday

On November 30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., residents are urged to participate in Small Business Saturday. Do some Christmas shopping, pick up some unique gifts for the holidays and help support small businesses. Shoppers can also expect special sales and promotions at many downtown businesses.

This year visit the Neighborhood Champion Table (located at the corner of 6th State streets), show off receipts for downtown businesses dated 11/30 and totaling $100 or more to be entered to win a prize. The first 50 shoppers to show the Believe in Bristol welcome table day-of receipts valuing at least $25 purchase in any downtown Bristol business, will receive a free Small Business Saturday shopping tote.

The Downtown Kingsport Association will host its inaugural Downtown Kingsport Christmas market Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The market will be held at High Voltage, 101 Cherokee Street. Browse among the local vendors, enjoy food from The Brunch Box food truck and toasty holiday beverages from the Vintage Vixens. Enjoy holiday music, a variety of beers and cider from the Fuse Box at High Voltage, 'smores by the fire pits and more.

Admission is free! Food, beverages, pictures with Santa will be available for purchase.

Christmas Open House in Johnson City

The 7th annual Christmas Open House is scheduled for Nov. 30 and Dec.1, running from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day. This event is a chance to enjoy some relaxed shopping and find unique Christmas gifts while encouraging our small businesses. It's a perfect opportunity to connect & get into the festive spirit.

The event is at 1310 North Roan St., in Johnson City.

Tri-Cities Christmas Market returns to Gray

The Tri-Cities Christmas Market will feature more than 100 vendors offering handmade candles, jewelry, soap, lotions, crafts, home décor', Christmas décor', dog accessories, children's accessories, homemade food (fudge, breads, cookies, local honey, etc.), women's clothing boutiques, children's clothing boutiques, toys, knives, custom made items, food trucks and more.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Appalachian Fairgrounds Farm and Home building in Gray. Admission and parking are free. There will be door prizes and photos with Santa.

Jazz ensemble concert Monday night

The UVa-Wise Jazz Ensemble will perform at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 a the Appalachia Cultural Arts Center on Main Street in Appalachia, Va. Admission is free. Donations to the arts center are appreciated.
