Baseline Road near Elgin Drive was shut down Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle crash in which one driver hit a utility pole, leaving thousands without power.
About 3,396 people were left without power Tuesday morning in Lafayette, Louisville and Boulder, according to Xcel Energy's outage map. As of 10 a.m. the outage was no longer showing on the map.
Officials were notified of a crash in which one vehicle hit a utility pole, causing it to fall down around 8:16 a.m, on Tuesday, according to Carrie Haverfield, a Boulder County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
The two vehicles were towed before the road was re-opened at 9:47 a.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol. Emergency personnel warned drivers to watch out for slippery roads in the area. Officials asked the public to use "extreme caution" and try to find an alternate route.
Police arrested a 24-year-old man who reportedly flipped his car over and landed upside down between two Longmont homes early Sunday morning.
Police attempted to pull over a reckless driver reportedly eluding officers around 2:59 a.m. on Sunday, according to Longmont police spokesman Rogelio Mares. The vehicle crashed and ended up on its roof upside down between two homes in the 900 block of South Pratt Parkway. Mares said that the driver fled the scene and was found in Kanemoto Park, where he was taken into custody.
The man faces charges of vehicular eluding; driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash; and driving without a driver's license.
