A pedestrian was killed in St. James Parish early Tuesday morning after a car crash on Louisiana Highway 70 near the Sunshine Bridge. A preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV was traveling east on LA Hwy 70 at the same time, Randolph McKinley, 63, of Convent was walking north across the eastbound lanes. State police say for reasons under investigation, the SUV hit McKinley and he sustained fatal injuries and died on the scene. The driver of the SUV was not injured and police say the driver is not suspected of being impaired and voluntarily provided a breath sample which showed no alcohol detected. This is an ongoing investigation.
