Mechanicville, N.Y. -- Crews responded to Mechanicville after a sheen of oil was seen along the Hudson River Tuesday.

According to the DEC, hydraulic oil was released from the NYSEG hydroelectric plant. The exact amount of oil released is unknown.

An environmental contractor was dispatched and the cleanup continued into the evening. There are no known impacts to drinking water.

The DEC continues to investigate and staff will continue to monitor the area.
