SHANNON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Crooks are stealing money from vending machines throughout northeast Mississippi and northwest Alabama.

One incident happened on Saturday morning, Dec. 7 at Brewer Grocery on County Road 855 in Shannon.

A man pulled up in a white car, broke into a soda machine and stole the money inside it, Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson announced.

The sheriff shared several surveillance images of the individual.

Similar crimes recently happened in Nettleton, Aberdeen and Hamilton, Alabama. These robberies are believed to be connected.

The thieves used drills and other power tools to break the machines' locks.
