WILDER, Ky. (WXIX) - A historic staple of Northern Kentucky was demolished Tuesday.
Bobby Mackey's first opened in Wilder nearly 50 years ago in 1978.
The owner, Bobby Mackey, said he is currently working on plans to build a new bar at the same site, but could not say when development would begin.
"A lot of people feel a closeness to the place," Mackey explained. "A lot of people came there a lot and were kinda bonded to the place, and I'll miss that. It felt like home."
In the meantime, Mackey has signed a short-term lease at the former Mugbee's location at 8415 US 42 in Florence.
"I like where we're at now, but it can't take the place of what this was," Mackey continued.
The location in Florence will serve as the bar's temporary home until the construction of the new building in Wilder is complete.
