BAY VILLAGE, Ohio (WOIO) - Sunday will mark 35 years of searching for Amy Mihaljevic's killer.
She was 10 years old when she was kidnapped from a shopping plaza in Bay Village on Oct. 27, 1989.
Amy was found four months after she disappeared more than 50 miles away in a field in Ashland County.
Her killer is still out there.
Every year her family and the community put on a 5k to raise awareness and hopefully encourage people to bring tips forward.
"I admire their courage and their tenacity to keep on, its got to be very difficult," said Sara Tremont.
Saturday, dozens of people showed up in support, ready to walk or run with a little more hope in their hearts after finding out that there is a new lead in the case.
"What they have right now, is just a big giant step compared to where we were at," said father Mark Mihaljevic. "Hopefully next year this time they'll have somebody to account for this".
