Harris slams GOP on manufacturing as she and Trump hunt for votes on the campaign's final weekend
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Kamala Harris is criticizing House Speaker Mike Johnson for suggesting Republicans might cut government subsidies for semiconductor manufacturing. The vice president and Republican Donald are on one last weekend quest to round up every possible vote in the battleground states that will determine the next president. Harris spoke in Milwaukee on Saturday before heading to campaign rallies in Atlanta and Charlotte, North Carolina. Trump is attending two rallies in North Carolina and one in Salem, Virginia, which isn't a battleground. President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the race over the summer, is making one last 2024 campaign stop in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
It's a fight to the finish in races that will determine control of Congress
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The races for control of Congress are at a stalemate. It's essentially a toss-up for the House and fight to the finish for the Senate. The outcome of Tuesday's election will determine whether the new White House has allies or skeptics on Capitol Hill. Or whether it faces a divided Congress like this past session, which has been among the most tumultuous and unproductive in modern times. Candidates are engaging over the big issues such as the economy, the border, reproductive health care and the future of democracy, as well as over Congress itself.
Listen to business owners and voters in Erie, Pennsylvania. They could help decide the White House.
ERIE, Pa. (AP) -- Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have campaigned in the Rust Belt city of Erie, Pennsylvania. And control of the White House could come down to how business owners and voters in Erie view each candidate's economic vision. In every presidential election since 1992, Erie County has gone for the candidate who ended up winning Pennsylvania. Many people in town say they want predictability. They question Trump's ideas on tariffs in particular. But there's also doubt that either candidate can do what's being promised.
Iran's supreme leader threatens Israel and US with 'a crushing response' over Israeli attack
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Iran's supreme leader has threatened Israel and the U.S. with "a crushing response" over attacks on Iran and its allies. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei spoke Saturday as Iranian officials are increasingly threatening to launch yet another strike against Israel after its Oct. 26 attack on the Islamic Republic that targeted military bases and other locations and killed at least five people. Khamenei said: "The enemies, whether the Zionist regime or the United States of America, will definitely receive a crushing response to what they are doing to Iran and the Iranian nation and to the resistance front." The supreme leader did not elaborate on the timing of any attack, nor the scope.
Attack on central Israel injures 11 as Iran's leader promises a punishing response
JERUSALEM (AP) -- An attack on a central Israeli town has injured 11 as Iran's supreme leader vowed a punishing response to Israel's attack last week. The predawn strike on Tira was one of several barrages fired from Lebanon on Saturday. Many of the projectiles were intercepted by Israeli air defenses while others landed in unpopulated areas. Exchanges of fire on Friday and Saturday in Lebanon came as Israel steps up its offensive against Hamas fighters in northern Gaza and as the world waits to see whether Iran will respond to Israel's Oct. 26 attack.
Trump is using election lies to lay the groundwork for challenging 2024 results if he loses
NEW YORK (AP) -- Donald Trump has spent months laying the groundwork to challenge the results of the 2024 election if he loses. Rally after rally, he urges his supporters to deliver a victory "too big to rig," telling them the only way he can lose is if Democrats cheat. He has refused to say, when asked on repeat occasions, whether he will accept the results regardless of the outcome. And he's claimed cheating is already underway. The comments echo those he made four years ago, when Trump declared victory before votes were counted and refused to accept his defeat, culminating in the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Trump will spend every day until the election in North Carolina, a swing state he won twice
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Donald Trump will rally supporters in North Carolina every day until Tuesday's election. That's a flurry of late activity in the only swing state that he won in both his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. Late in the campaign, Trump has looked to expand the electoral map and project strength with trips to New Mexico and Virginia, two Democratic states not widely viewed as competitive. But he's also putting considerable time into North Carolina, which last backed a Democrat for president in 2008. Trump's hope for victory is significantly more complicated if he were to lose North Carolina. The fast-growing state gave Trump his smallest margin of victory over Democrat Joe Biden four years ago.

Warren Buffett is sitting on over $325 billion cash as Berkshire Hathaway keeps selling Apple stock
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Warren Buffett is now sitting on more than $325 billion cash after continuing to unload billions of dollars worth of Apple and Bank of America shares this year and continuing to collect a steady stream of profits from all of Berkshire Hathaway's assorted businesses without finding any major acquisitions. Berkshire said in its earnings report Saturday that it sold off roughly another 100 million Apple shares in the third quarter after halving its massive investment in the iPhone maker last quarter. The stake valued at $69.9 billion at the end of September remains Berkshire's biggest single investment, but it has been cut drastically since the end of last year when it was worth $174.3 billion.
Vigil set for Grizzly No. 399, the beloved Grand Teton bear who was killed by a vehicle
A vigil is set to be held for a famous female grizzly bear that delighted visitors for decades in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park after she was struck and killed by a vehicle. Officials say the grizzly known as No. 399 and beloved by nature photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and other park visitors was hit Oct. 22 south of Jackson. Dozens are expected to brave frigid weather to attend a candlelight vigil on Saturday night, while hundreds more will watch online. At age 28, the bear was the oldest reproducing female grizzly in the Yellowstone ecosystem. Authorities say a cub was with the grizzly when she was struck and was apparently unhurt, but its whereabouts were unknown nearly two weeks after its mom was killed.
