CADDO PARISH La - Last minute filers raced to pay their property taxes in Caddo Parish on Tuesday.
Although lines weren't long, the office was packed, with lines stretching out the door. Clerks processed more than 900 transactions in a single day, according to Angela Duncan, director of the Caddo Parish Tax Assessor's Office.
"If you don't pay today, that's fine. We will not charge any interest until January 13th. So there will be no penalties, no interest until that day. After that, they will accrue interest of 1% each month," Duncan said.
The office normally closes at 5 p.m., but workers vowed to stay until the last taxpayer was served.
