Wintry weekend, light snow in southern Ohio

Sunshine and unseasonably cold air makes it seem more like January than the end of November. The sun was not strong enough to warm us up to freezing, with high pressure over the Southeast.

A fast-moving Alberta clipper will bring more clouds later this evening and a period of snow across southern Ohio. Light accumulations will range upwards of an inch south of U.S. 35 tonight, making roads slick through Sunday morning. Locally, 1 to 2 inches will fall in the counties along the Ohio River.

Temperatures will start off in the low 20s early Sunday and only rise to the low 30s in the afternoon, with a good deal of sunshine.

A reinforcing blast of cold air will keep temperatures 15 degrees below normal through early next week. Afternoon highs will only be near freezing and morning lows around 20 Monday and Tuesday, along with a mix of clouds and sun, with high pressure over the region. A few flurries are possible in brisk northwesterly flow.

The next chance for rain and snow showers will come with a frontal system on Wednesday, followed by another arctic surge.
