Cass County driver loses control after going airborne, hits mobile home

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) -- A 19-year-old driver was hospitalized after a fiery crash Saturday afternoon in Cass County.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office says the one-car crash happened just before 1 p.m. Saturday on Wood Lake Road near Welburn Street in Newberg Township.

Investigators say the driver was speeding and went airborne after cresting a hill and lost control. The driver reportedly left the road, overturned and hit a mobile home. Both the vehicle and the mobile home caught fire. The home was being used for storage and was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Charlotte Barrow, of Kalamazoo, was taken to Three Rivers Health Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been involved in the crash.
