A Southern Union State Community College student faces serious charges after neglecting her husky puppy over the holiday break.

Taylor Colbert left her husky puppy, Sky, locked in a kennel in her bedroom for several days without tending to it. Sadly, the puppy was found deceased after complaints of a smell coming from the apartment.

Videos have surfaced on social media of people saying they saw her in town and near the complex but never witnessed her go inside or take the puppy outside to use the bathroom. Outrage has spread amongst the student body after her roommate's friend posted a video on Reddit of the state of her bedroom and the deceased dog lying lifeless in a hot pink kennel.

Allegedly mutual friends had asked to purchase the dog from her multiple times once it became clear she was not giving the husky puppy the care it deserved. Despite multiple attempts Colbert refused to sell Sky.

The Aburn Police Department arrested Colbert Tuesday on one count of cruelty to animals and a felony after she turned herself in that morning.

According to Myarklamiss.com," Auburn Police confirm the investigation began after an animal abuse report was filed on January 5. They are working closely with Auburn Animal Control on the case."

Authorities plan to release more details as the investigation continues.
