ST. LOUIS COUNTY -- A 40-year-old man died when his SUV ran off an Interstate 55 ramp and overturned early Friday morning, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

The patrol said the crash took place just after midnight on the ramp from northbound I-55 to Lindbergh Boulevard in south St. Louis County.

The driver, who was ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol did not release his name but said he was from the St. Louis area.
