LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -A little girl has officially found her forever home just in time for the holiday season.
Arya Munoz, who was placed in foster care at just five weeks old, was adopted by Chris and Angela Munoz after nearly three years of fostering.
The Munoz's opened their hearts and home to Arya when she was a newborn. Arya was dropped off at a church in Canadian with no connection to her biological family.
The couple says this journey has been filled with challenges, patience and unconditional love.
"Arya is the missing piece to our family," Chris said. "She fills our life with love, laughter and some grey hairs and she is finally, today, going to be officially ours and that's what's going to make her special."
But with the support of Texas Child Protective Services, she was placed in the Munoz's care and has flourished in their loving home.
Barbara Dickerson, an attorney specializing in family law, describes Arya's situation as a unique circumstance.
"It is a miracle that she was alive," she said. "She's known as a Baby Moses case."
The Baby Moses Law, or the Safe Haven Law, allows parents who are unable to take care of their child to drop off the baby at a designated safe place such as a hospital or fire station.
Back in July, Lubbock opened the second Safe Haven Baby Box in Texas and the first in the Hub City. Now, Wolfforth recently opened its own baby box location, the second in Lubbock County and fourth in the state.
The Munoz's are now focused on giving Arya a bright future, one full of love, laughter, and memories. Their family is now complete, just in time for the holidays.
