The location is not in any city limits, but has water and sewer services from Surry County, Mount Airy and Dobson. The center is projected to open in the third quarter.
Surry County Economic Development Partnership said the center represents a capital investment of millions of dollars and will have dozens of jobs.
Amazon chose the site to fit into its "hub-and-spoke" model, where it will serve customers within an 45-minute drive area. Amazon also confirmed plans for similar delivery centers in Jacksonville, Southern Pines and Tarboro.
