LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - As we step into Christmas week, many of you may be feeling a bit disappointed that the traditional holiday weather isn't quite living up to expectations. Instead of crisp, cold air, a mild and relatively dry pattern will dominate the region.
Christmas Eve and Day Forecast
Christmas Eve will set the stage for a warm and pleasant holiday, with temperatures gradually rising throughout the day. As we head into Christmas Day, most areas can expect to reach the 50s.
While a few scattered showers may dot the landscape, rainfall totals will be meager, with most areas receiving less than a tenth of an inch over the two-day period. This will make for a great excuse to get outdoors and enjoy the unseasonably mild weather with family and friends.
Weekend Outlook
The mild temperature trend will persist into the weekend, with some areas potentially reaching the 60-degree mark. However, attention will turn to a developing system that will bring soaking rains to parts of Kentucky.
Rainfall totals from this system could reach 1-2 inches in some areas, making for a messy final weekend of 2024. If you have outdoor plans, be sure to check the forecast frequently for updates.
New Year's Temperature Drop
As we look ahead to the new year, another quick drop in temperatures is on the horizon. While it's still a bit too early to iron out the details, it's something we'll be keeping a close eye on in the coming days. Stay tuned for further updates!
