Some of FC Barcelona's squad players are contributing more than ever, as they fight for more minutes and even potentially a starting place.
Ferran Torres hit a hat-trick against Valencia in the Copa del Rey, and Fermín López added another, as Frenkie de Jong and Eric Garcia pulled the strings from deep.
It was a showcase match for them as they're hitting form at the same time. Hansi Flick will keep them in mind going forward if they continue playing like this.
The player most likely to land a spot in the starting XI is De Jong. He started off slowly after his injury kept him out for a while, but has finally picked up rhythm and there are some that say he could be starting over Marc Casadó soon.
Equally there are Torres partisans who would prefer him to start over Robert Lewandowski because of his mobility. But it will be difficult to replace the Pole goal machine, particularly if Lewandowski has put his rut of poor finishing in a few consecutive matches behind. Still, Torres is a very useful sub as he can play anywhere in the frontline.
Fermín will surely get minutes but it will be hard for him to break through to a starting job simply because Barcelona also have Gavi and Dani Olmo occupying his best position. He will get time replacing them as a sub, and playing on the wings, as he's shown he is a very important part of the rotation.
Iñigo Martínez will be hard to displace for Eric, but there is some argument that he can get some minutes that seemed previously locked in for Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan is a much better pure defender than him, but against teams that park the bus, Eric's pinpoint passing from central defense can be quite useful.
Hansi Flick's squad is looking stronger than ever now that these rotation players are firing on all cylinders, and with five changes to make every game, Barcelona will be able to keep their players fresh and hungry.
