However, the biggest surprise of the day came from down south, where the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels were upset by an unranked Florida Gators team that had struggled for much of the season. Following Florida's huge victory, which likely ended Ole Miss's playoff hopes, "College GameDay" analyst Kirk Herbstreit praised Gators head coach Billy Napier. Just a few weeks ago, Napier was widely considered a coach on the hot seat. Now, however, he's thriving and has the Gators playing at a high level, continuing to get the best out of his team.

Some late mistakes by Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, combined with a strong performance from the Florida defense and an impressive outing by freshman quarterback DJ Lagway, were the key storylines of the game.

The Gators stayed tight with the Rebels throughout, and after taking the lead late, they never looked back. Playing spoiler against a team many believed was peaking at the right time and could compete for a National Championship, Florida handed Ole Miss a stunning defeat.
