All right, so the Kansas City Chiefs finally suffer their first loss losing at Buffalo a week ago. So no undefeated season, but they are still the two time defending champs and have the best record in the AFC and on a path to the one seed. KC in Carolina, so back to back road games, they are 11 point favorites against the team many consider the worst in the NFL. The over under is fairly low, all things considered at 43.
Now many people think the Chiefs after loss will just sort of get back on track and go pummel this bad team. I say pump the brakes because typically that does not happen in the sports world. Certainly doesn't happen in the NBA. Usually it takes a couple of games because I think the Chiefs are running on empty on the gas tank. It wasn't just last week losing. Look at the week before, they should have lost at home, but for a blocked field goal saved them. That was against the Denver Broncos when they were over a touchdown favorite. Week before that they needed overtime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This team's been running on fumes the last few weeks and I don't think they all of a sudden have a bunch of energy.
They're going to face a team that's off a bye, back-to-back wins, starting to play a little better and get healthier. Guys, like Adam Thielen returning on a pitch count, so to speak, but I think it's too many points.
I really like Carolina in the first half, plus six and a half, +100. I like the Panthers. I think they're going to start strong. Kansas City is going to be a little flat and just trying to do enough to win this game. I don't think they're trying to send a message to the NFL. I don't think they're going come out like gangbusters.
So I like the Panthers +11, but I really like them in the first half.
