Dodgers, Mets Ideal $200 Million Free Agent Projected To Sign With Different NL Team

The New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers are both chasing a similar crop of free agents. Both organizations met with superstar Juan Soto and they're both expected to be in on pitcher Corbin Burnes.

Another player they're both pursuing is Milwaukee Brewers infielder Willy Adames. Adames is a shortstop by trade, which is where the Dodgers would play him if they signed him. If he was signed by the Mets, the versatile infielder would slide over to third base.

FanSided's Nick Villano doesn't expect Adames to land with the Dodgers or the Mets, though. Villano predicts Adames to sign with the Atlanta Braves. Spotrac projects the infielder to sign a six-year, $152 million contract, though some projections have him making closer to $200 million because of the scarcity at shortstop in free agency.

"The Braves need a shortstop, and they have some money to spend. Their injuries forced them to question their depth last season, and they are looking to salvage their core and win a World Series," Villano wrote. "Adames helps them with all of that and isn't a huge risk thanks to his age and talent. The Braves also have no Ronald Acuna Jr. to start the year, so adding offensive help until he's healthy is smart."

Atlanta needs an answer at shortstop. The Braves have the money to spend, so it's not out of the picture to imagine him landing in Atlanta. Adames would be a huge addition to a roster that looks to bounce back from a down year in 2024.
