Little Rock stores notice uptick in business as Mega Millions jackpot exceeds $1 billion | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

The Mega Millions jackpot has eclipsed $1 billion for the first time since March, and stores in Little Rock have noticed an uptick in business before Friday's 10 p.m drawing.

After a Christmas Eve drawing in which no one won the grand prize, the jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing grew to $1.15 billion. This is the second Mega Millions jackpot over $1 billion this year. The first came in March, when a New Jersey ticket won the $1.28 billion prize.

In total, three Mega Millions jackpots have been claimed in this year, according to Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. In addition to March's prize, a $552 million jackpot was won in June and $810 million was awarded in September.

Mega Millions drawings happen every Tuesday and Friday at 10 p.m.
