A clot of ambulances and firetrucks shut down a portion of Markham in front of Park Plaza mall on New Year's Eve as firemen worked to get people safely out of the multi-story building.

Little Rock Police spokesman Mark Edwards said police were already nearby responding to a call about a fight, and were able to shut down traffic quickly, clearing the way for firefighters to move in.

Video of smoke pouring out of one of the apartments was shared on social media.
