NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken County is growing at a rapid rate and a lot of that growth is happening in North Augusta.

You might've spotted the big building under construction in downtown, across the street from the Municipal Building.

That's Beacon Bluff, announced one year ago and already making big progress.

Just one year ago, things looked a lot different on the corner of Center Street and Bluff Avenue.

In place of the piles of red clay and gravel now sits the Beacon Bluff development.

"We've got two retail spaces, three restaurants, and four or five professional office spaces that will be in this development," said David Brannon, director of development at Palmetto Peach Development.

Step by step and brick by brick, Brannon's vision is coming to life.

"We're looking at being done with Beacon Bluff in about two months or so," said Brannon. "We're about to wrap up the shell and then we'll begin work on the courtyard. Tenants will begin their upfits and I think around Master's time we'll start to have businesses open in this community."

Brannon says the building is 80% pre-leased.

Complete with everything from luxury living, fine dining and shopping, all the way to exercise.

"I can't name them all right now, but we have Bowl Boss open and they're having great success and we're very proud of them," he said. "Melty, a franchise out of Utah that does specialty grilled cheeses is still trying to get their equipment wrapped up, but they should be open soon.

Then the Brinkley's Restaurant Group announced Brink's Place.

Brannon says his goal is not to make Beacon Bluff a destination, but rather a landmark.

"I think it puts North Augusta on the map without compromising its hometown feel," said Brannon. "With this building, we tried to create a development that would not look like your normal strip mall, but that really is a landmark. It's beautiful to look at, it maintains the character of downtown and I think we've achieved that."

They plan for it to be ready in the spring of 2025.

"It will be a great mix of life, work and play, as people say," said Brannon.

Brannon says if you're interested in living or working in Beacons Bluff there are two apartments, one retail or restaurant space and one professional space up for grabs.
