Imagine being one of the biggest names in reality television in the mid-2000s. Now, imagine not getting paid a penny for it.
Tim Gunn, mentor for the design competition Project Runway, joined Living Not So Fabulously hosts David & John Auten-Schneider to share how he learned that he was short a paycheck despite the show's success. One serendipitous run-in with an agent at a Bravo! table at a gala revealed to Gunn how atypical it was that he was neither being paid on the show nor very well for his book contracts.
Upon looking at his contracts, Gunn recalls his future agent's response: "These are some of the worst contracts I have ever seen in my entire professional career." Though Gunn thought the language was simply "boilerplate," his agent wouldn't stand for it anymore. The rest was history.
