Fire at Boulder Hill home leaves one dead, Oswego fire department says

A fire at a single-family home in Boulder Hill near Montgomery on Sunday morning left one person, and a pet, dead, according to a news release from the Oswego Fire Protection District's Facebook page.

On Sunday at about 6:27 a.m., the Oswego Fire Protection District was dispatched for an outside smoke investigation at a residence on Fernwood Road, officials said, and found a structure fire upon arrival.

Upon searching the home, the crews found one individual dead, along with a deceased pet, inside the residence, the release said.

After an interior attack to control the fire, firefighters performed overhaul operations to completely extinguish it, the release said.

The house was deemed uninhabitable, and no dollar loss estimate is available. There were no reported injuries to firefighters.

The fire departments from Aurora, Plainfield and Naperville provided mutual aid, the release said, and the Sugar Grove and Bristol Kendall fire departments provided coverage during the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
