Dana White provides comment on the surprising release of former UFC heavyweight contender following recent loss

Following UFC 312 this past Saturday, Dana White provided an answer on the surprising cutting of Jairzinho Rozenstruik after his loss at UFC Saudi Arabia.

A few weeks ago, the promotion landed back in Saudi Arabia for just their second event in the Kingdom with a main event between Israel Adesanya and Nassourdine Imavov.

Also on the card was what seemed to be an important fight in the heavyweight division between Sergei Pavlovich and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Unfortunately for the fans in attendance, the fight turned out to be one of the more lackluster heavyweight fights in recent memory as Pavlovich snapped his losing skid and picked up a boring decision win.

A few days later, it was shockingly announced that Rozenstruik had been released by the UFC despite being 3-2 in his last five fights.

Following his loss and subsequent release from the UFC, Rozenstruik broke his silence and claimed that the reason he had such a lackluster performance was because of 'paint fumes' in the locker room before the fight.

'Bigi Boy' wasn't the only one to complain about the paint fumes causing dizziness as Mike Davis also put his performance down to his breathing issues prior to his fight.

Rozenstruik's release came as quite a shock to the MMA fanbase because usually, he is known as an exciting fighter near the top of the heavyweight division, despite his last two performances.

At UFC 312 in Sydney Australia this past Saturday, UFC boss Dana White finally provided a comment on why the former title contender was released.

"Yeah I don't (think he requested his release), he was either cut or not re-signed," White said at the post-fight press conference.

Despite being released by the premier promotion, Rozenstruik has made it clear that he won't be retiring from combat sports and is looking forward to seeing what his next journey will be.

The GFL have recently been making quite the wave in the MMA world having signed a plethora of former UFC stars and announcing their inaugural event will take place in April.

Although the GFL seems like the destined landing spot for the Suriname native, the promotion has recently conducted its draft to determine which fighters are on which teams.

Because of that, it may be unlikely for Rozenstruik to land on their roster. The PFL continues to look for big-name signings, despite their recent releases and Rozenstruik could make a welcome addition to their heavyweight talent pool.
