Deja Vu? Train Hits Car For 2nd Time In 24 Hours In Bergen County

According to an NJ Transit spokesperson, Pascack Valley Line train #1629 struck the vehicle on the tracks at the grade crossing at Central Avenue just before 6 p.m.

The vehicle was not occupied and the driver was later issued a summons. There were no injuries reported to the approximately 350 customers and crew on board.

The train departed Hoboken at 5:32 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Spring Valley, NY at 6:26 p.m.

Rail service was temporarily suspended but has since resumed with a 45-minute delay. New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.

A similar incident occurred near the Plauderville station Monday night. In that incident, a driver was charged with DUI after their car was struck by a train while on the tracks.
