UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- A woman was arrested in Utica on Friday night after a high-speed chase and foot pursuit around the city.
Police with the Crime Prevention Unit -- along with Oneida County Sheriffs -- attempted to stop a vehicle on Court Street near Schuyler Street at approximately 7:30 pm on Friday, December 20. Police say that when they attempted to stop the vehicle by flashing their lights, the operator -- later identified as 28-year-old Kendra Kenyon -- immediately fled from officers.
Officers attempted to pursue Kenyon; however, due to her vehicle reaching reckless speeds, the pursuit was terminated a short time later.
Some time later, officers say they witnessed Kenyon's vehicle near Parker Street. Officers then attempted another stop, at which point Kenyon allegedly pulled into a driveway and fled on foot. Officers then gave chase, catching up with her a short distance later.
Kenyon then began to physically fight with officers, but they were eventually able to detain her and take her into custody. Upon trying to identify her, Kenyon allegedly provided false information to officers. When they were eventually able to identify her, it was learned that she had outstanding warrants from Oneida County Sheriffs.
Following the pursuit, Kenyon complained of ankle pain and was transported to the Wynn Hospital. When she was being escorted to a patrol car after her discharge, Kenyon fled from an Oneida County Sheriff on foot in an attempt to escape custody. She was apprehended again a short distance away and eventually transported to the Utica Police Department.
