CAL FIRE says they are searching for a man who got swept into the ocean by a sneaker wave on Monday. A witness said that a man was knocked into the water while standing on a rock. CAL FIRE said at around 2:14 p.m. they along with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, State Parks, and the U.S. Coast Guard, responded to a water rescue off 17-mile drive. After an extensive 45-minute search, the search turned into a rescue mission. Rescue swimmers, drones and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter were deployed to assist in the search.This is an ongoing situation, with resources continuing to search the area. "Community members are urged to remain vigilant and heed watches and warnings issued for the peninsula coastline, as ocean conditions remain dangerous," said CAL FIRE.
