SpaceX prepares for Friday afternoon Starlink launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- SpaceX is preparing to send up another batch of Starlink satellites into space on Friday, Jan. 10, at 2:11 p.m. ET.

The company's Falcon 9 rocket will launch 21 Starlink satellites, including 13 with Direct to Cell capabilities, into low-Earth orbit from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The only backup opportunities available for the Starlink Group 12-12 mission are until 2:15 p.m. ET.

The 45th Weather Squadron has given a 95% chance of good liftoff conditions for the launch.

If the launch does not go off on Friday, SpaceX will plan again for Saturday, Jan. 11, starting at 10 a.m. ET.

This is the 25th flight for the first stage booster, B1067, which previously launched:

Following the stage separation, the first stage will land on the droneship, Just Read the Instructions, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Starlink company's 21 satellites will join thousands of others in orbit, providing internet service to many parts of the globe.

Dr. Jonathan McDowell, of Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, tracks Starlink satellites.
