Players did their best to keep their spirits high during a six-game skid that ended with Friday's 5-4 shootout win over the Ottawa 67's before 3,921 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Practices went well all week and helped keep the confidence up, Easton Wainwright said.
"It's probably ultimately why we got the win tonight," said Wainwright, who scored the decisive goal in the shootout. "We've been focusing on making sure everybody's confident and confident in what they bring to the team."
Nick Surzycia matched his season high with 42 saves. He also stopped the 67's twice in the shootout for a 2-0 decision.
The win was only the Sting's second in 12 games.
"We had to be desperate enough to get a win and tonight it showed that we wanted that win," Wainwright said.
