Harry Potter is one of the most popular and beloved fantasy sagas. Characters like Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and Albus Dumbledore are probably known even by those who've never read or seen Harry Potter. The characters introduced in the series became part of pop culture and hold a place in fans' hearts forever. It's easy to get confused about the ages of the Harry Potter characters, as the movies and the books can contradict each other sometimes. For example, Severus Snape was in his early 30s when Harry became a student at Hogwarts. However, the movie portrayal of Snape is far older, as Alan Rickman was in his early 50s during the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone movie. In other cases, the introduction of the Fantastic Beasts film series changed the already-established information about a character, creating confusion among fans. Albus Dumbledore Was Over 100 Years Old When He Died

Albus Dumbledore is easily one of the most memorable Harry Potter characters. As one of the most talented and powerful wizards, Dumbledore led the resistance against Voldemort not once but twice. Dumbledore also fought Gellert Grindelwald, another dark wizard who began the Global Wizarding War while Voldemort was barely starting his education at Hogwarts. So it makes sense that Albus Dumbledore was way over 100 years old at the time of his death in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Albus Dumbledore was only 18 years old when he met Gellert Grindelwald for the first time. And he was in his early 60s when he defeated Grindelwald in 1945. By the time the First Wizarding War began and the Order of the Phoenix was formed to fight against Voldemort, Albus Dumbledore was already in his late 80s. And when he died during Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore was 115 years old.
Minerva McGonagall's Date of Birth Is Inconsistent In the Saga
Professor McGonagall is a beloved character in the Harry Potter saga, as her stern but soft nature helped Harry more than once. There are several different clues about McGonagall's age, but some are a little bit contradictory. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which takes place between 1995 and 1996, Professor McGonagall tells Dolores Umbridge that she's been working at Hogwarts for thirty-nine years. This means that Minerva McGonagall became a Hogwarts professor in 1956. A writing about Professor McGonagall in Pottermore mentions that McGonagall worked at the Ministry of Magic for two years right after graduating from Hogwarts and later left the Ministry for a teaching position at the wizarding school.

Taking these clues into account, Minerva McGonagall would've been born around 1935, and she would've been about 63 years old during the Battle of Hogwarts. However, a young Minerva McGonagall appears in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which takes place in 1927. In the Fantastic Beasts movies, McGonagall is already teaching at Hogwarts, making her older than what was originally understood. Following the continuity from Fantastic Beasts, Minerva McGonagall would've been around 100 years old during the Battle of Hogwarts and about 125 years old during the Harry Potter epilogue, which takes place in 2017.
Rubeus Hagrid Was Almost 70 During the Battle of Hogwarts
Rubeus Hagrid, Hogwarts' gamekeeper, was a student at Hogwarts around the same time as Voldemort, who was known as Tom Riddle then, was also at Hogwarts. Hagrid is only a few years younger than Voldemort, who framed Hagrid for the opening of the Chamber of Secrets. Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts for this during his third year at school but became the school's gamekeeper. During Harry's third year at Hogwarts, Hagrid became a Hogwarts professor at 65 years old, teaching Care of Magical Creatures.

During the Battle of Hogwarts, Hagrid was almost 70 years old. He fought bravely and survived the battle, and remained at Hogwarts as the Professor of Care of Magical Creatures. At the time of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows epilogue, Hagrid was almost 90 years old. While there's not much known about Hagrid after the Battle of Hogwarts, it's safe to assume that he remained in touch with Harry, Ron, and Hermione and taught their kids once they arrived at Hogwarts.
Lupin and Tonks Had a Large Age Gap
Remus Lupin was at school alongside James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Lily Evans, and Severus Snape. Due to his nature as a werewolf, Lupin struggled to find a job after leaving Hogwarts. Dumbledore was willing to hire Lupin, who became Harry's Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at 33 years old. Nymphadora Tonks was a metamorphmagus and an Auror, who joined the Order of the Phoenix in her early 20s.

Voldemort Never Reached 100 Years
Even though Voldemort did everything he could to achieve immortality, he still died at a young age for a wizard. Voldemort created the Horcruxes to prevent himself from ever dying, but Harry, Ron and Hermione were able to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes with the help of Neville Longbottom and Vincent Crabbe in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
