Wordle Help, Hints & Clues for Today, December 26

Wordle #1286 of Thursday, December 26 edition of the NYT can now be solved. The popular word game was originally developed by Josh Wardle in 2021. Wodle offers players six attempts to correctly figure out a five-letter word every day. As a player guesses every letter, it can appear in one of three colors: green, yellow, or gray. Green appears when the letter is correct and in the correct position, and yellow is when the letter is accurate, but positioned incorrectly. Gray appears when it's a completely incorrect answer.

Here are hints, clues, and the answer for Wordle for December 26.

Yes, there is one letter, a consonant, that appears twice.

As a verb, the word affix means to attach or add one thing to another. It can be something physical. For instance, placing a stamp on a letter. It can also mean adding a letter or a group of letters at the beginning, middle, or end of a letter to give it a new meaning. There are three main types: prefixes, infixes, and suffixes. Prefixes go at the start of a word, infixes go in the middle, and suffixes at the end.

Today's word is relatively hard due to the presence of a recurring consecutive consonant. However, once a player discovers what that recurring letter is, the search for the right word becomes somewhat straightforward.
