MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A woman is recovering in the hospital after being shot on March 5.
WSFA 12 News First reported the shooting as part of a multi-day crime spree, where court records accuse Eric Scott, Jr. of shooting Audrey Smith inside of her car on Victor Tulane Circle.
Smith's daughter, Mykeria Sword, has been shouldering the responsibility of caring for her mother since the incident.
"That's my best friend. That's my mom," Sword said, reflecting on the deep bond she shares with her mother.
The day of the shooting, Smith was supposed to pick up her children from school. When she didn't show up, Sword attempted to contact her mother several times, but it wasn't until later that she learned her mother had been shot and, fortunately, survived.
As Smith continues her recovery, her family is reaching out to the community for support during this challenging time. The road to recovery will be long, but Sword says her family remains hopeful and strong as they navigate the difficult days ahead.
