ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) -- A suspect accused of driving drunk struck a St. Petersburg police officer early Saturday morning.
The police department said a driver ran a stop sign at 1st Avenue North and 23rd Street North and struck the officer in a marked cruiser, who was traveling through the intersection.
Both drivers were taken for evaluation with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said the officer was treated and released with minor injuries.
The suspect was taken into custody and charged with DUI, according to police.
No additional details on the suspect's identity have been released.
