Artificial intelligence is the most powerful tool humanity has ever created. And yet, at its core, AI is built with something as common as silicon -- the same sand that lies beneath our feet and is one of the most abundant solid substances on earth. Human ingenuity and innovation have produced systems that can use sand to think.
Too much hype? Not at all. For those still on the fence, I would say: Focus on what is useful. Just as I faced skepticism in the 1980s when I put my email on my business card, or 10 years ago when people balked at the idea of wearing AirPods, unfamiliar technology always takes time to become mainstream. But if AI is genuinely useful -- and it is -- it will quickly spread everywhere.
