* The Hopkins Activity Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary the week of Feb. 13-16. Each day, there will be hors d'oeuvres, special guests, group photos and door prizes from 10-11:45 a.m. On Thursday, Feb. 16, the Jazzberries will perform from 11:30 a.m.-noon, followed by a lunch of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. Reservations are needed for lunch. Call 952-939-1333 at least two work days in advance.

Thursday, Feb. 16

* The center will offer a trip to Turtle Lake Casino beginning at 10 a.m. The cost is $13, which includes deluxe motorcoach, games on the bus, prizes and a $5 coupon. Pre-registration is required.

Feb. 20-23

* Feb. 20-23 is Food Shelf Week at the center. Non-perishable food items, toiletries and cash donations will be accepted for the Intercongregational Communities Association Food Shelf.

Feb. 28, March 28

* The center will offer hearing screenings and hearing aid service from 10:45-11:45 a.m. The cost is $2, which includes hearing testing and/or cleaning of hearing aids. Additional fees will be charged for heating aid repairs. The service is provided by Marcon Hearing Inc. Call for a 15-minute appointment.

Ongoing

* Free blood pressure checks are offered on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at the activity center. Appointments aren't needed.

* Each Monday, the center offers a coffee clutch from 9-11 a.m. Those who attend may enjoy a free cup of coffee and treats sponsored by Hopkins Care Center.

Call the center at 952-939-1333 for more information about activities and events. The Hopkins Activity Center, located at 33 14th Ave. N., is owned and operated by the city of Hopkins for the benefit of all residents.

* The center offers free Tax-Aide state and federal tax preparation for seniors on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, between Feb. 21 and April 11. Trained Tax-Aide counselors will be available from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Call the center to reserve an appointment.

Monday, Feb. 27

* Local historian Maxine Dickson will offer a presentation on "Lake Minnetonka's Glory Years." A $1 donation is suggested.

Ongoing

* Meals on Wheels - South Shore delivers hot, nutritionally-balanced meals to senior citizens and the disabled Monday through Friday in Excelsior, Deephaven, Shorewood, Tonka Bay and Minnetonka. Call 952-474-5227 for more information.

* Meridian Manor will offer breakfast bingo at 8:30 a.m. every Friday in the Ida Marie restaurant. Call 952-473-3200 for more information.

* The center's "Lunch Bunch" will dine at Ruby Tuesdays. To join them, call Tamarack by Friday Feb. 17.

The center needs volunteers to call bingo and is in need of receptionists. If you have one Friday per month free from 12:30-1:30 p.m., you could help call bingo.

If you enjoy greeting people and answering phones, you could help from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays as a receptionist. Call the Tamarack Center at 952-476-2554 to volunteer.
