THE PLAN WAS SHUT DOWN THAT SIDE OF THE BRIDGE FROM NINE TO 3 TODAY. BUT CREWS WORKED QUICKLY AND THE BRIDGE REOPENED BY NOON. <MY VIDEO> WHILE CREWS WERE REPLACING THE BARRICADE WITH ONE THEY ALREADY HAD ON- HAND, A DETOUR SET UP SENDING DRIVERS ONTO THE VETERANS BRIDGE AND ONTO BUSY BROADWAY. <SOT-ANNA BLASH/STUCK IN TRAFFIC-08.32.18 TO 08.32.26 TRT :08> "THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY CARS FOR THAT ARTERY AND IT'S ALREADY LIKE THAT DURING HIGH TRAFFIC TIMES." ANNA BLASH GOT STUCK IN THE TRAFFIC WHILE TRYING TO BACK HOME TO SOUTH PORTLAND FROM THE MAINE MALL. <SOT-ANNA BLASH/STUCK IN TRAFFIC-08.31.57 TO 08.32.04 TRT :07> "YOU REALIZE HOW UNFUNCTIONAL THIS CITY IS WITHOUT THIS BRIDGE.THERE'S NO ALTERNATIVE ROUTE FOR THAT MANY CARS." 30-THOUSAND VEHICLES CROSS THE CASCO BAY BRIDGE EVERY SINGLE DAY. REPAIR COSTS COULD BE BETWEEN 20,000 AND 25,000.
