TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- On Tuesday morning, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough joined forces once again to address affordable housing in Hillsborough County.
The Buccaneers helped build six homes for six single mothers, and for Defensive Back Jamal Dean, being something bigger than football means the world to him.
"Growing up in the hood, you see how hard it is for people to, like, make ends meet," Dean said. "And then when you can finally give back, and like help you know that it leaves like a soft spot in their heart knowing that someone like us, even at the level that we are, we still think about our communities."
The goal is to not only build homes but also spread love in the Tampa Bay community.
The Bucs roster donated funds towards the build, but the players said the best is yet to come.
"I just can't wait for the final piece," said Linebacker Yaya Diaby. "For them to actually see their home and enter and get that key."
There were over 60 volunteers in attendance helping build homes and hoping to bring some smiles to faces in need.
