LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) -- The Lakeland Police Department is looking for the driver of a Range Rover that reportedly struck and killed a 67-year-old woman as she was crossing the street on Saturday.
The crash happened around midnight on Saturday, Nov. 23 as the victim was trying to head west across South Florida Avenue from Palmetto Avenue, police said.
Investigators said the driver, who was traveling south on South Florida Avenue, did not stop after hitting the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was later identified as 67-year-old Robin Brown. Officials said Brown was taken to Lakeland Regional Health, where she later succumbed to her injuries, despite the best efforts of medical professionals.
Members of the LPD's Traffic Homicide Unit then took over the investigation. The roadway was shut down for nearly four and a half hours as the scene was processed.
The suspect's vehicle is believed to have been a 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport 2 that was possibly gray or silver in color.
